Why should I choose Blu Dog Charters? 

Islamorada is a “village of islands” that most consider being paradise once they arrive.  Experiencing the beauty of island life means slowing down, breathing in the ocean air, and losing track of where the sky ends and the water begins.  At Blu Dog Charters, our boat cruises were created to give others the chance to experience the true meaning of island time, encounter nature at it’s purest, or feel a sunset for the first time.  Our expert guides are local guides and are here to create an unforgettable time for you.

What type of boats do you have?

Our speed boat is a 24’ World Cat with twin 155 HSP Yamahas.  We use this boat for all of our family fishing, water taxi, lobstering, snorkeling and fun day at sea packages.

We also have a 48' Mainship Trawler that we offer as an option for those that want an enhanced boating experience.  We use this boat for fun day at sea packages, snorkeling trips and sunset cruises. 

How many people can we bring?

You can bring up to six (6) passengers per boat - No exceptions.

How long is the cruise?

We offer several different package cruise options that can range from 2-4 hours.  We do also offer custom cruise packages that fit your desired time and budget.

How far out do you go?

This depends on where we are going!  The trips out to the sandbar are less than one mile from shore and our snorkeling trips will take us to where the marine life is!  Don’t worry, our captains know the hot spots, relaxing spots, and well, all the spots of Islamorada.

Is there a bathroom on board the boat?

There are no bathrooms on the World Cat boat but most of the time you are in the water.  If we are out cruising or it is an emergency, let your captain know, and they will take you into any number of bars or restaurants on the shore.

There is a bathroom available on Serenity Blu, our Mainship Trawler. 

Can we take kids? 

Absolutely!  Our snorkeling and family fun day cruises are adventures that kids will never forget.  While some cruises can be geared more toward adults, all ages are welcome and we will help you find the cruise right for you.  

Can we take strollers?

Strollers are not necessary (or allowed) on the boat and should be safely left in your vehicle.  

Wheelchairs

Neither of our boats are wheelchair accessible and due to the nature of the activities, these cruises may not be the right fit. Safety comes first for all passengers on board.  Please call to discuss if you have further questions.

Can we bring food/drinks? 

Yes!  We do have a cooler on board where your drinks and food must fit.  Alcoholic beverages are ok too, but you must be 21 years of age to consume.  Please don’t offer to share with your captain, while they are fun, they are taking their jobs seriously!

What is the tipping/gratuity policy?

Tips are not expected but are accepted and appreciated.  At the end of your cruise, at your discretion, you can tip your captain.

Are there life jackets for adults, children, babies on board? 

Blu Dog Charters offers Coast Guard-approved life jackets for all adult passengers as well as select sizes for children, and you will be fitted with a life jacket prior to departure.  If you are bringing a child, it is recommended that you bring a Coast Guard-approved life jacket that is comfortable for your child as they are required to wear at all times.    

Do I need my own snorkel gear?

Blu Dog Charters provides snorkel gear in most sizes for children and adults, including fins, face mask, and snorkel.  Please call to discuss.

Do I need reservations?

A reservation is the best way to guarantee your spot!  You can give us a call or book online.  The prices are the same.  

Refunds and Cancellations

Please give 48 hours' notice in advance if you would like to cancel or change your reservation.  We understand that life happens, and we will do whatever we can to accommodate your changes.  You will be charged the full rate of your scheduled cruise if we are not notified at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled departure.

Weather

Rainstorms are very common in Islamorada and often pass as quickly as they begin.  It is up to Blu Dog Charters to cancel your trip at no cost to you if we feel your safety is at risk due to weather.
